SEE THE SPRING FLOWERS AT A FESTIVAL

Darling Wildflower Festival is back in 2024. Besides a landscaped wildflower exhibition, there’ll also be a market space with food and drinks, a tea room, vintage cars to admire, and tractor rides. Guided wildflower walks can be pre-booked. Most of them are short, relatively flat walks that are comfortable for mobile seniors.

ATTEND A BOOK FESTIVAL

The Khayelitsha Book Festival aims to acknowledge the realities of poverty in the township. The Khayelitsha Book Festival's theme this year is “Narratives of the Resilient: Our Lived Experiences Become Our Literature”. It will celebrate stories of triumph that arise from resilience and honour those who use their lived experiences as literature.

BRAAI, BAK & BREW

… at the Hollywoodbets Durbanville Racecourse. There’ll be a traditional braai, beer garden with local brews, and a thrift market with hidden gems and timeless treasures. And of course, horse racing. The jockeys will be competing for the Settlers Trophy.

KIDS POTTERY CLASS AT A DOG MUSEUM

Kids can sculpt their favourite dog in a pottery class at the Museum of Dogs. The classes will be about an hour long and divided into two classes  for kids aged 5 to 8 and 9 to13. After the class, the family can visit the museum, which celebrates dogs and explores their role in history.

SEE THE FULL MOON ON A HIKE

Kick off spring with your family and friends while you enjoy a walk under the moonlight. The finish point of this 5km hike is at the Meerendal Tasting Room. TAKE THE KIDS TO A PAINT CLASS 

Miski and Artjamming Somerset West are running weekly art classes for kids aged between seven and thirteen. It’s a safe space for children to get creative where they’ll learn various painting and drawing techniques and get to take their projects home.

GO TO SA’S FIRST-EVER ANIME FESTIVAL
