Blind tastings, local products and more at Saint Juz
Last updated: Wednesday, 10 April 2024
Think you know your wines? This new wine shop and eatery in Woodstock does blind tastings, where you have to guess the body, finish, tannins and acidity. If you win, you get a voucher to spend on Saint Juz’s Siberian-Asian fusion plates or wine shop with local labels and products.
At the blind tasting, you’ll test your wine knowledge. You’ll receive two whites and two reds. You’ll have to guess what the wines are by different categories, including body, finish, tannin and acidity. You can win a R1 000 voucher to the restaurant if you can guess the four wines correctly.

If you’re not interested in a blind tasting, there’s more than enough reasons to visit Saint Juz anyway. The mix of wooden tables and rattan chairs compliment the green pot plants lined up all around the room. On one wall you’ll find framed pictures and artworks; on the other, carved arches in dark green, teal and pink.
Behind the lit-up kitchen you can see Chef Ramthu at work. This is where he likes to get creative and switch things up. Because of this, there are often menu changes with new items being added. Expect dishes like ramen and Russian Syrniki (fluffy cottage cheese pancakes with jam or honey).

You can also buy from local brands in store such as sauvignon blanc from My Ex’s Tears and Lothian Vineyards, or Cape Collective Beer. There's also spices from Oryx Desert Salt, preserves from Dulce de Cabo, jams, pastries and more.
After a meal or tasting you can also buy other local products such as spices from Oryx Desert Salt, preserves from Dulce de Cabo, jams, pastries and more.
