Volvo Ocean Race Hits Our Shores

One race across 4 oceans

Four oceans, six continents, twelve cities all in one race. And the V&A Waterfront will be the third stop of the 2017/2018 Volvo Ocean Race between 24 November to 10 December 2017. Experience the ultimate test of endurance on the human body, admire beautiful yachts and shake the hands of the teams competing in this phenomenon.

With a few weeks left to the Volvo Ocean Race, The V&A has announced its first annual Ocean Life Festival in celebration of the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover. The festival hopes to educate visitors on ocean life and sustainability while emphasising the effects pollution has on the maritime ecosystem.

The Ocean Life Festival will consist of curated events across the V&A Waterfront on Monday, 27 November to Friday, 8 December. Expect to see environmental talks and showcases, a three-night film festival, and a two- night theatre show.

“As custodians of one of the most recognised waterfronts in the world, the V&A Waterfront, we are keenly aware of our responsibility to protect this natural resource, and we’d like to encourage Capetonians to come to the Festival and to enjoy themselves,” says David Green, CEO of the V&A Waterfront.
