While the interior of the hotel is slick and cutting-edge, the patio itself is a relaxing scene of summer comforts – it’s dotted with sun umbrellas, framed by leafy trees and edged by a sparkling swimming pool – and so, it makes for an ideal spot to down a lager or four.

The chic hotel bar serves up a range of familiar brews, including Castle Lager Draught, Black Label, Hansa Pilsener, Amstel, Guinness and Peroni, a few craft beers (like Mitchell’s Lager and And Union Beast of the Deep Lager), various colourful cocktails and an assortment of wines, and all are available at a special price.

While sipping on ale, refreshing mixes or vino, visitors can keep entertained by practicing their sign language skills (a sizeable number of the hotel’s staff members are deaf) or by watching sport on the large television in the bar. The Southern Suburbs hotel is located a stone’s throw away from the Newlands Rugby Stadium and Cricket Ground, so if there’s a game on, you can catch it on the Park Inn’s screen right in the midst of the action.

Beers normally go for between R20 and R49 a bottle or draught, cocktails sit between R45 and R50 and wine starts at R25 a glass, so with these rates sliced in two, the savings are great.
