Ready. Set. Race. This outdoor adventure is an exhilarating downhill descent on non-electric Monster Mountain Scooters. You can freewheel through a bush tunnel, glide through vineyards or take two off-road tracks in the city. Here are all the exciting tracks you can experience with Scootours.

These Monster Mountain Scooters are Swiss-designed and non-motorised. Image: Scootours
Banhoek in the Stellenbosch countryside has Monster Mountain Scooters, purpose-built tracks, archery, vine bike tours and mountain biking trails. You get to cascade through vineyards and over small wooden bridges, all while admiring views of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains and Simonsberg Mountain. Plus, Banhoek takes walk-ins.

The Banhoek trail is just outside Stellenbosch. Image: Scootours
Scootours’s second Stellenbosch location, Middelvlei Wine Farm, is 850m of pure dirt-road, complete with meandering berms, a bush tunnel and bumpy rollers that lasts 45 minutes. You’ll be shuttled to the top, where you get to freewheel back down through vineyards and trails.
If you’d like to extend your visit, book an archery session or a braai lunch with all the trimmings, like chops, boerewors, braaibroodjies, Ouma Annie's pumpkin fritters and other South African favourites. Plus, you can host your kids’ birthday party at Scootours Middelvlei.

You can book them for corporate events too like team buildings and year ends. Image: Scootours
The Scootours Franschhoek route is easy to navigate, even for kids. During the tour you’ll freewheel through vineyards and down the gentle slopes of Chamonix Wine Farm, with views of the surrounding mountains and wine farms.

It’s downhill fun for everyone. Image: Scootours
During the 1.5 to 2 hour tour, you’ll glide down two different off-road tracks. The first one is a 5km Jeep track that runs down the side of Signal Hill and takes you all the way to the colourful Bo-Kaap. And on the way you’ll have gorgeous views of Table Mountain, the city centre, Cape Town harbour and mosques in the Bo-Kaap.
The second track, which starts on the lower slopes of Table Mountain at Dead Man’s Tree, lets you speed down the mountain, through Deer Park, and into Oranjezicht. You’ll see views of Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and Cape Town Stadium.

There are so many great views to stop and admire. Image: Scootours
All trips are led by professional guides and include safety instructions. Riders must have a minimum height of 95cm and weigh less than 120kg, wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. You don’t have to be fit and no experience is required, you just need to be able to ride and balance a bicycle.

Scootours is not an extreme activity but a family fun outdoor adventure. Image: Scootours
