The Kiffness Gets Set for a Live Show at Café Roux

The band doesn’t call itself the essence of kiff for nothing – watch its live performance and you’ll see why

Following up the performance at Café Roux for the launch of their latest album, Soul Safari, earlier this year, The Kiffness will once again be performing at the live music venue. Come down to the Shortmarket Street venue on Saturday, 11 November 2017 and get a hit of kiff from one of the country’s favourite local house music acts.

A small hideaway, Café Roux is one of the city’s go-to venues to see live local music acts – both well-known and new on the scene. Its regular Sessions evenings aren’t just about seeing cool musos live. You can also enjoy dinner and sup on wine throughout the show. It makes for a relaxed evening; and you won’t need to worry about being jolted about by a standing crowd of other fans pushing to see the performers.

With David Scott as its founder, producer and frontman, collaborating and teaming up with various acts such as Mathew Gold and Shortstraw, The Kiffness is a dynamic phenomenon. Their sound has a jazzy feel, with piano riffs and strains of a saxophone and trumpet threading through electronic house beats. The style clearly works with Capetonians, with many tracks having become instant hits, from ‘You Say You Love Me’ to ‘Where Are You Going’ to ‘Evergreen’.

David Scott uses satire and the music of The Kiffness to critique the world’s “miffness” and create a bit of kiffness at the same time. We think he’s doing a pretty good job, at least as far as spreading kiffness goes.

Tickets are going for R120/p and you can grab yours online at Webtickets.co.za. Buying a ticket automatically reserves you a seat. Dinner will be served from 6:30 pm and the show will be going from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
