Fruit, veg and flower picking is a bucket-list activity in Cape Town: You get to spend time outdoors, it’s budget-friendly, and it’s a great way to explore outside of the city. Visit Elgin for an orchard tour, pick strawberries and look at giant scarecrows, or create your own flower arrangements in Stellenbosch.
De Krans Wine Farm – home of the first Pink port-style wine as well as the first Perlé Moscato wine in South Africa – allows peach and apricot picking on their farm during summer. When to pick: November (apricots) and December (peaches)
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am - 4pm
Cost: R10 per kg (peaches) and R9 per kg (apricots)
