Get to Zula Bar this Heritage Day for a special edition of their popular open-mic spoken word sessions
Verses, Cape Town’s popular monthly eclectic spoken word and live music sessions, pays homage to heritage on Wednesday 24 September.
Knowing the founder of Verses well, we can certainly recommend this as one of the best things to do on Heritage Day if you enjoy spoken word and the Zula Bar vibe.
Come and experience the magic of a Xhosa poet collaborating with an Afrikaans singer/songwriter; an opera singer providing the backdrop to a spoken word piece on life in the Cape Flats and the foot stopping inspiring rhythms of Khoitrans.
You are welcome to bring along your own piece on heritage and read/perform during the open-mic session.
Verses happens on the last Wednesday of every month and draws some 200 people to Zula Bar, Long Street.
