Pick from 50 classic beauties, from muscle cars to a Cadillac
Enjoy a cruise to Chapman’s Peak or a private tour around the Cape Peninsula in anything from a ‘67 Mustang Fastback to a 1959 Jaguar Mk.9 with Classic Rides. Or arrive in style to your wedding, matric ball or birthday celebration in the perfect vintage car. You can even hire a convoy of these beautiful classic cars for any bespoke transfers the heart desires or use one as an impressive prop for a photoshoot (Instagrammers love it).
CHOOSE BETWEEN 50 VINTAGE CARS
Classic Rides, started in 2016 by Capetonian Josh Kotlowitz, utilises a network of privately owned classic and sports cars to provide the ultimate transport experience for your special day. Classic Rides believes these beautiful machines of the past should be shared with the world rather than gathering dust in a garage.
FROM MUSTANGS TO CADILLACS
There are so many beauties to choose from, like the 1989 Ferrari Testarossa, 1958 Cadillac or even a VW Firetruck. Every car is privately owned and well looked after by a vintage car collector, and most of the time the owner will be your chauffeur (and sometimes Kotlowitz himself). Because they are so passionate about their machines, you might learn an interesting thing or two about your ride along the way.
You may enjoy the new car smell, but nothing delights the senses like a finely tuned, classic automobile. Picture a cruise around Chapman’s Peak in a 1967 Mustang Fastback: the scent of the leather interior, the roar of the V8 engine, music emanating from the speakers: all the ingredients that make any journey awesome, and that’s not to mention the envious ogling.
Most of the cars can accommodate between three to four passengers, and Classic Rides can work with you regarding your specific requirements for the brand, style, or model of the vehicle. Plus, with their advanced online booking system, you can find out quickly if your ideal car is available.
GO ON A UNIQUE TOUR OF THE CAPE’S ATTRACTIONS
Besides chauffeuring clients to and from special events, Classic Rides also offers private curated tours – a unique way to explore Cape Town’s main attractions. What’s more unique than cruising around in a 1946 Plymouth while experiencing the Western Cape’s famous views?
Classic Rides’ favourite tour is the Chapman’s Peak cruise, which exhibits some of the most beautiful coastal roads in Cape Town to its passengers. The gorgeous views and relaxing drive are complemented by a light picnic and wine at one of the panoramic viewing points on Chapman’s Peak drive.
If you’re up for a bit more adventure, Classic Rides offers a full day Cape Peninsula tour. The tour includes a stop off at Kalk Bay to meet the friendly seals, visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town and a trip to Cape Point (home to naughty baboons and sea-swept ostriches). The drive ends along the winding Chapman's Peak Drive, where you’ll enjoy some complimentary sundowners while soaking up the expansive views.
Classic Rides offers a winelands tour, where you’ll discover charming vineyards and enjoy the Cape’s finest wines and culinary delights. It includes a stop off at the Franschhoek Motor Museum, home to over 220 priceless classic cars.
PLUS: TRAVEL IN A GROUP
Large groups are also catered for within the Western Cape (around 100 cars is their record) and no drive is too far (there have been tours from Cape Town to George and back). They also assist with transporting groups from hotels to dinner, airport pick-ups, or full- and half-day tours of the Cape.
So no matter which classic ride you choose, whether it’s for a special occasion or tour, you’re guaranteed to turn heads as you cruise around in old school comfort and style.
Note: Classic Rides operates in the greater Cape Town and Johannesburg/Pretoria areas and will consider requests in nearby towns as well.
