All-day remote workspace with wholesome café favourites
Last Updated: Tuesday, 30 July 2024
You’ve probably seen this new all-day café all over TikTok and Instagram. Maggy Lou’s, named after a Sea Point pioneer from the ‘60s, is fittingly homey with its old school cosy nooks, 60s-style lamps and lush plants. It’s a five minute stroll from the Promenade and is pet-friendly with a convenient to-go coffee hutch.

Legend goes that Maggy Lou was a Sea Point pioneer in the late ‘60s, running an iconic food truck on the Promenade. Her food was so good that people lined up for hours just to get a taste.
This cosy café is an ode to her — offering a warm, nostalgic hangout spot where you can enjoy wholesome café favourites and salty bar snacks.

Warm wood tones, lush hanging plants, a killer playlist, and cosy nooks for reading or catching up with friends make Maggy Lou’s a lovely contrast to the bustle of Sea Point Main Road.
There’s a big table right in the middle, ideal for a game of cards with friends, and the relaxed self-service setup adds to the homey vibe, allowing you to settle in and make yourself comfortable.
Plus, with its fast wifi and easy access to plug points, it’s a great work-from-coffee shop location.

Firm favourites (according to TikTok and Instagram) are the fried chicken sandwich and prego rolls, served on cute chequered paper, as well as the fresh pastries.
There’s classic breakfast plates with some inventive options, like the Green Toast. It’s sourdough topped with zesty peas, avo, marinated zucchini and soft poached eggs.
And the homemade chilli vinegar, which is out-of-this-world, is perfect for drowning your side salad and fries. Oh and until they get their liquor licence, you can bring your own beer or wine — how cool is that?
