Get your pizza, burger, or sushi fix and support small businesses
As the country eases into level 4 of lockdown, many restaurants are opening their doors to deliver hot food. After a solid five weeks without takeouts, Cape Town is ready to welcome back these tasty treats. Here are 18 restaurants that will be offering delivery during level 4 lockdown.
FROM PIZZA TO VEGAN CURRY
African Relish has a condensed delivery menu that’s updated regularly. Choose between pasta and meatballs, and wood-fired pizza. Otherwise, you can order frozen meals, such as beef lasagne, lamb pies and vegan sweet potato curry. They also offer grocery deli items, such as a variety of quality pasta, snacks and bottle items, like marinated peppers and jams.
Areas: Deliveries will be made within a 5km radius of their premises.

ENJOY FINE DINING AT HOME
FYN is bringing fine-dining flair to your living room during level 4, with two menu options available for delivery. The first is the FYN Experience: a five-course menu of inventive dishes such as Vin de Constance Mosbolletjies with fynbos butter to start, grilled springbok loin with African polenta, miso corn, young spinach for your main course, and ‘camembert’ cheesecake with yuzu quince and pine nut biscotti for dessert. The second option is the FYN family menu, perfect for sharing around the kitchen table. Expect free range Boran Beef Wellington with truffle jus, roast carrots and shallots, followed by a chocolate and hazelnut brownie, raspberries and tarragon crème fraiche. The menu changes from time to time, so visit the FYN website for updates.
Areas: Free delivery range extends to a 15km radius from FYN. A surcharge (distance-dependent) will be added for longer journeys.
How to order: Call 021 286 2736, WhatsApp 071 559 0304 or e-mail orders@fynrestaurant.com.
EAT LIKE A TIGER KING
Famous for its “dude food”, Tiger’s Milk has included a new “exotic” menu inspired by the Netflix documentary Tiger King. There is, of course, the Crouching Tiger: seared tuna with edamame beans, cashew nuts, cucumber, cabbage, pineapple, avo, sesame seeds and creamy wasabi dressing. The Bask-in Beer & Cheese Burger consists of a 180g pure beef patty, streaky bacon, and Tiger's Milk Lager & mature cheddar sauce. If you’re going for pizza, The Exotic Sirloin Pizza is fit for a king: it includes strips of flame-grilled sirloin tossed in chimichurri and garlic, mozzarella, peppadews and Parmesan shavings. You can even order dessert - the options are a chocolate brownie or cheesecake.
Areas: Delivery is available from the Kloof Street, Claremont, Century City, Durbanville/Village Square, Muizenburg and Blouberg stores.
How to order: You can order via Mr Delivery, Uber Eats, Bolt Food or the Tiger’s Milk Website.
CREATE YOUR OWN ICE CREAM SANDWICH
Who doesn’t love ice cream? And everyone loves cookies. Put those two together and you get a delightfully colourful combo. You may know Crumbs and Cream from their pink and yellow truck at the V&A Waterfront and their Sea Point store, but now you can order their famous ice cream sandwiches as a takeaway. Choose any two different cookies, like choc chip, red velvet or even milk tart, then pick your ice cream of choice and any of their tasty toppings and spreads (think Smarties and Nutella). They also have vegan options.
Areas: They only deliver in a 5km radius from their Sea Point store. Further deliveries for selected areas will be available as well.
How to order: Call or WhatsApp 081 343 2761, or order via OrderIn, Uber Eats, Mr.D and Bolt Food.
WHOLESOME FAMILY MEALS
Feed the whole family with these meals freshly prepared by Café Frank. The rotisserie chicken with sides (such as boulangère potatoes) serves 4-8 people. There’s also 1kg phyllo pies with many delicious fillings, from creamy chicken to Indian sweet potato and spinach. Plus you can buy a range of soups, like Moroccan lamb and lentil or lemon chicken with basmati. From the bakery and deli, you can order dark chocolate brownies, ciabatta or cranberry and almond granola, among other things.
Areas: Cape Town City Bowl, Southern Suburbs and the Atlantic Seaboard.
How to order: WhatsApp 062 667 4633, e-mail: bree@cafefrank.com or Mr D (to go live soon)
GO ON A JUICE CLEANSE
Nourishd Cafe offers different fast and cleanse programmes to flush out those toxins, from various juices to vegan broths. They’ve also created frozen smoothie packs, from the Naughty Nutter to one packed with berries, so that you can make them yourself at home during lockdown. If it’s a meal you want, there’s the frozen soup pack that includes spinach and broccoli and Thai pumpkin, plus frozen meal packs that include chickpea stew and traditional creamy Sri-Lankan dhal.
Areas: Atlantic Seaboard to Rondebosch.

For mains, the burgers are a crowd favourite, while the schnitzels, curries, soups, and pastas make the perfect main meal on a chilly evening.
