This Epic Festival Of Beer Will Be Your Best End-Of-Year Party Yet

It’s time to start dropping hints with your boss now: the 10th edition of the Cape Town Festival of Beer is a three-day party that starts on a Friday – perfect for your company’s year-end celebration. Here’s an incentive: there are VIP packages for companies, so you and your colleagues can have this epic end-of-year blow-out for a good deal (that should seal the deal).

If it doesn’t, tell them that Cape Town Festival of Beer – from Friday, 29 November to Sunday, 1 December 2019 – is big on everything: the brew (it's the largest selection of commercially available beer in the southern hemisphere) and the vibe, which is infectious. You’ll be telling stories about it for years to come. 

FRIDAY IS GROUP DAY, PLUS BEERS ARE FULLY STOCKED
As we said, there are different VIP packages for companies to host end-of-year functions. Some include platters, dedicated waiters, a keg and – best of all – team-building activities led by (wait for it) a brewer (who doesn’t love a brewer?).    

Friday’s also a good day for beer aficionados to get the first taste of old favourites and new brews, some of which are limited. Plus, most breweries will have an activation space to celebrate the 10th anniversary by doing something special, such as launching brand-new beers that will be available soon.

Then there’s the food: Kitchen Cowboys (steak rolls, ribs, etc); Hudsons, The Burger Joint; Love Pizza; The Wicked Waffle; Bali Food Truck and The Southern Smoke are the best matches for beer you can get in this city.

DID WE SAY 200 BEERS AND CIDERS?
This year, there’ll be around 200 beers (and ciders, too) from more than 60 breweries, including limited-edition beers brewed specifically for the festival. From micro- to macro-brewers, lagers to ales, there’ll be products from Hey Joe Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Soweto Gold, Old Potter’s Inn And Brewhouse, Jack Black Brewing Company, Darling Brew and others. 

CIDERS, DJS, AND CELEBRITY HOST, TOO
If beer isn’t your thing, then look out for Swedish-made Rekorderlig Cider, which comes in a strawberry and lime flavour, or try one of the Loxtonia ciders (winners of the 2018 cider category in the beer judging contest) perfect for a hot summer’s day.

In between hitting the beer stands, swing by BeerGuevara for one of its famous hop shots and then grab a hangover remedy (for later). Local DJs and Cape Town party band Me & Mr Green will entertain the crowds all day, while celebrity MC Dan Nicholl hosts the event. 

MORE FUN, FROM DANCE-OFFS TO BEER JUDGING
There are loads more entertaining activities that happen on the day. In years past, there’ve been bachelor dance-offs, beer Olympics, a log roll and karaoke kombi. And each year, Cape Town-based home brewers club SouthYeasters decide on the best beers on show in accordance with the Beer Judge Certification Program. Top honours include Best Lager and Best Cider.

VIP Package 3:
Includes entrance ticket, branded beer mug, entrance to unreserved VIP area, snack platter, 10 taster tokens, a jug of beer, a drinks voucher, a dedicated waitron, live entertainment, a corporate gift and corporate activities. Unreserved up to 24 guests or reserved from 25 guests.
