Parking, coffee shops and discounted boardrooms are just some of the perks
Last updated: 05 November 2024
Research has proven that people thrive in coworking spaces. Digital nomads because they can blend work with their lifestyles. Hot-desking freelancers love seeing new faces and creatives. Businesses and entrepreneurs, who need fully-serviced offices, want access to boardrooms, kitchens and printers. The offerings at Ideas Cartel, which have some of Cape Town’s most upmarket office spaces, have all of the above and then some.

Ideas Cartel knows that to meet the needs of today’s diverse high-performing workforce, coming from around the corner and abroad, is to provide convenience, flexibility and good-looking coworking luxury spaces at a fair price.
“We’re meeting the new way of work with ingenuity, creativity, and flexibility – the same qualities humans have employed to overcome change for years,” says the founder of Ideas Cartel, Schuyler Vorster.
It’s not surprising, then, that they’ve been home to some of the city’s biggest and most upcoming businesses (us, CapeTownMagazine.com, included).
Each location has different decor, while still being stylish and elegant. Image: Ideas Cartel
Ideas Cartel properties are upmarket and smartly designed – it’s the kind of spaces you want to be seen working in. The Claremont location (near Cavendish in the southern suburbs) is classic and homey, with its leather couches, floor-to-ceiling windows and bespoke wooden desks.
The buzzy Old Foundry (in Green Point and a five minute drive from the V&A) has industrial interiors plumped up by plush decor, like blue velvet armchairs, a navy floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, plenty of plants and a sunny courtyard. And it has a boutique hotel perched atop the property, for seamless blurring of work and life.

The coworking memberships are offered on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. You can get the flexibility of a drop-in-and-go for an hour or two, or get a fixed desk which you can make your own.
There are communal kitchens, parking, wifi, back-up power, bathroom and shower facilities, cleaning services, and 24/7 access and security. A coworking membership also gets you access to the boardrooms at a discounted rate (member rates start from R175 ex VAT per hour).

That gives you a desirable business address with access to meeting lounges, meeting rooms on every floor and boardrooms that seat four to 20 people – enough space to make it a conference venue.
Ideas Cartel services leave nothing to be desired. They’ll assist in customising your office, book hotel rooms for out-of-town guests, recommend hardware suppliers like computers and servers and even organise corporate retreats and team buildings.
