SHORT COURSES AND WORKSHOPS AT THE 2018 CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
Arts Journalism (17–24 March 2018)
This short course is aimed at qualified journalists, freelance writers and journalism students, and seeks to raise the standard of arts journalism. Whether you’re a blogger, journalist or freelancer, and music is your beat. this short course is great for upskilling yourself. What’s more, the week-long course is aligned to the National Journalism Framework. The course will be facilitated by award-winning journalist Percy Mabandu and jazz writer Gwen Ansell.
Photojournalism (17–24 March 2018)
Professional photographers who are clued up on the basics and have their own camera gear can join this course to learn all about using imagery to create stories, specially focussing on music and interpreting jazz photographs. Photographer Caroline Mwangi will be facilitating this course along with other presenters and speakers. Participants will be required to create a Jazz Festival portfolio with images at the end of the course which encapsulates their experience of the Jazz Fest.
These courses are free of charge and applications for the short course close on 15 February 2018.
