Dagga, weed, cannabis or hemp: no matter what you call it the masses are gearing up to show their support for the humble green leaf and cannabis industry in our pretty city. Gear up and get active as the 15th annual Cannabis March gets underway at just opposite the Castle of Good Hope on Saturday, 6 May 2017. The exact meeting place is listed as at the corner of Tennant Street and Keizersgracht Street in the centre of Cape Town.
Cannabis legalisation has been in the local spotlight for quite some time, and those who support the cause have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of action and awareness. The aim of the peaceful march around the city is to shed light on support behind legalisation, discussions on cannabis law reforms and the freedom of choice. The trek starts at the meeting point opposite the Castle and continues down bustling city centre to get as much visibility as possible. After the news we heard a few weeks ago, we are sure that the atmosphere this year will be nothing short of electric.
The march forms part of a global initiative spanning over 80 countries, aiming to show support for cannabis culture and educate fellow supporters and non-consumers alike.
The after party is going down at Trenchtown in Observatory from 1pm onwards. You'll be able to grab a delicious bite to eat, chill out and jam to some lekker tunes across both dance floors (yes, there are two dance floors). Ligerlili, Rubix Qube and Beachball will all be in attendance (along with many others) and we cannot wait to see what they have in store for us. Tickets are R100p/p and they're available online at Quicket.co.za.
TICKETS FOR THE 2017 GLOBAL CANNABIS MARCH IN CAPE TOWN
Entry to the march is completely free, mahala, gratis! Those wanting to participate are encouraged to meet just before 10am. Be sure to arrive early and don't miss out! Make signs of support and dress up in red, yellow or green for an awesome visual. Let’s draw even more attention to the legalisation of the herb with this peaceful march.
