The Sprawl by Andrew Sutherland at G2 Art
The paintings in this series of work have been inspired by man's need for growth and expansion
The Sprawl by Andrew Sutherland:
"I have mainly looked at our urban activities, focusing on cities and their rapid development. It is interesting to see how the growth of our nations has surged, pushing technology and development further and further."
"I am stirred by the sheer number of humans there are today, each with their own unseen agenda. It is sometimes hard to ascertain individual personalities, and people have become almost anonymous within this system of growth."
"This body of work is a look at how humans have evolved on our planet and the paths we have chosen to take. These paths can be viewed in different light depending on one’s own beliefs and understandings. In a world where advancement seems paramount it would appear that there is no end to our physical and material needs. I hope that one day our material requirements will end and we will start another journey..."
The exhibition opening is at 18:00 on the 23 February and Galley times thereafter.
