The Hermanus Whale Festival, the only Enviro-Arts festival in South Africa, puts the creatures of the deep on stage and under the spotlight alongside a host of top South African performers and musicians from 21 – 29 September this year.
Hermanus, known as the best land based whale watching destination in the world, plays host to thousands of visitors who flock to the seaside resort to exhilarate in the unique natural environment, watch whales, join in the world’s only Welcome Whales Wave Walk and revel in music, comedy, cabaret and African rhythms every night during the Festival.
The whales are always the star performers at the Festival and will be joined on land by musicians, crafters, sports celebrities and thousands of people celebrating Spring in the most beautiful place on earth – Hermanus.
Whale watching and shark cage diving, bird watching and Fynbos hikes, baboons and kayak trips are just some of the adventures available.
A special Design for Sustainable Living expo will be held on the newly landscaped Gearing’s Point area and will showcase the latest in sustainable lifestyle challenges.
Golfers have a special surprise in store with the Whale Festival Classic Golf Tournament extended to a two day tournament at two top courses, Arabella Golf Course and the newly extended Hermanus Golf Course.
Besides playing on these two spectacular courses golfers will be treated to an innovative lottery where R20 000 can be won as well as a putting competition with a prize of R10 000.
Entertainment and special wine tastings of some of the top wines from the area (Hamilton Russell Vineyards, Bouchard Finalyson, Sumaridge and Newton Johnson) are on the off course programme.
