Samadhi in Hout Bay is snuggled into the side of the 12 Apostles Mountain range, with Hout Bay at its feet and the aquamarine Atlantic sea and harbour beyond. This luxurious home with a cottage and tennis court sleeps 14, has a home gym, pool, incredible views and you can holiday in it over the winter because its rate drops by R20 0000 from the high season price (high season is R45 000).
While most people opt to visit Cape Town in the summer season, what few know is how spectacular it is in winter. And in Hout Bay she is particularly pretty, with dramatic mists billowing down the mountain in the mornings, only to be burnt away by mid-morning – many of our winter days are sunny and warm. And you could be here, at Samadhi, which in Buddhism, means achieving a state of deep contemplation through meditation.
The house is certainly the perfect place for reaching a beautiful equilibrium.
Should it be chilly, Samadhi is perfectly adapted to the weather with fireplaces that warm the space and make you appreciate the dramatic views even more. The bedrooms are all carpeted and there are plenty of soft throws to wrap up in. There’s also a dedicated entertainment room for watching movies and the kitchen is state of the art.
The winter rate makes it sumptuous for a family celebration or private gathering, like a special small winter wedding. In low-season (1 May - 30 September), it costs R25 000 per night for the villa. That is a R20 000 difference from the high-season rate of R45 000 per night. Mid-season (1 October - 14 December) it costs R35 000 per night.
There’s the pool, of course, but also a gym area with exercise equipment and ideal for yoga classes, and a tennis court, where challenges can be played all holiday long. Beyond the home, Hout Bay is home to many stables and there’s the option of horse-riding. Plus it’s hiking territory, or you can get into the sea or even go see seals. For kids, World of Birds is just around the corner. You’ll want for nothing at this gorgeous luxury holiday rental.
