The battle to be crowned the 2017 Junior Magician Championship returns to Bergvliet High School on Saturday, 23 September 2017.
The College of Magic hosts the Junior Magicians Championship annually and the competition puts 10 of the province’s most promising young wizards head-to-head. Not only will the contestants compete for the Western Cape Junior Magician title but the opportunity to attend international magical events too.
The Institute is the only organisation of its kind. The Institute nurtures life-skills and lets the students set their imaginations free. At the college, magic is portrayed through excitement, empowerment, and transformations. The college has a theatre, rehearsal rooms, a multi-purpose ‘imagination’ centre and the creatively named, ‘illusionarium’ to name a few. The magicians have access to a ‘magic shop’ to keep the enchanters well equipped and avoid having a malfunctioning wand - like Ron Weasley.
The teen wizards will have to prepare thoroughly if they want to impress the panel of judges and entertain the audience. Expect some thrilling trickery and mind-bending illusions.
Young magician, Jamian Fortune, 2016 Western Cape Junior Magic Championship, will be defending his title. He is a rising star and is one of the most talented students at the College of Magic. The 19 years old’s goal is to be one of the most successful magicians in South Africa.
Director of the College of Magic, David Gore, feels honoured to host and be part of the only magic championship in the province. David believes that the nature of the event prepares contestants for the big stage.
Spectators can expect to be entertained by the exciting Street Magic Contest. You’ll witness marvelous coin magic, card tricks, and balloon modeling up close. After watching the street magic, audiences can vote for their 2017 Street Magic Championship.
