Spaceships, astronauts & glow in the dark obstacle courses
Last updated: Friday, 24 May 2024
This alluring neon galaxy, with extreme drop slides, zip lines, a neon astro sports pitch and South Africa’s first Freedom Ninja Run obstacle course, is the ultimate spot for play whether you’re one or 100. With infinite stars, spaceships, and astronauts adorning the dark walls, you’d never guess Freedom Adventure Park was in the middle of Canal Walk.

Walking into Freedom Adventure Park feels like you’re stepping off a spaceship into outer space. Neon pink and purple lights illuminate the interior, which has a glow-in-the-dark air hockey table, blue-lit astro sports pitch and spray paint murals of astronauts and spaceships.
It’s like stepping into another world – when you’re actually next to Burger King. Park by entrance six, seven, or 10 to get there easily.
Ladders, ziplines, and endless trampolines fill the outer space-themed adventure park. Image: Freedom Adventure Park
Freedom Adventure Park says that they’re home to South Africa’s first Freedom Ninja Run, an extreme obstacle course inspired by the TV show American Ninja Warrior. Made up of 11 courses, Freedom Ninja Run is designed to test your balance, strength, and endurance.
There’s also a fidget ladder suspended over blue foam cubes, three extreme drop slides, reaction gaming, 30-interconnected trampolines, and 30m of zip lines to soar among the stars.
You can race your friends in orange scooters on the berg pedal-kart track or challenge them to an intense hang competition, where you have to try and outlast each other by perfecting your balance.
Toddlers are catered for too. There’s a dedicated soft play area for kids four and under with blue bouncy balls, slides, interactive walls and mini trampolines.
There are private work pods where you can work while the kids play. Image: Freedom Adventure Park
The indoor adventure park boasts a range of team building experiences. Packages start from R160 per person for one hour, with exclusive party room access, intense interactive challenges, and games tailored to your request (depending on the package).
There’s also a range of party packages (starting from R299 per person), which include two hours of unlimited access, party room, party box, pizza, slushies, decorations, and a coffee and tea station.
They also offer a selection of platters for events, like a golden deep-fried chicken and fries platter (R440) or breakfast platter with muffins, croissants, danishes, and more (R650). See more information on birthday parties at Freedom Adventure Park.
All party platters feed up to 12 people. Image: Freedom Adventure Park
Freedom Adventure Park has a halaal-friendly pizzeria that serves breakfast and Bootlegger’s coffee (with options like a carb-free eggs benedict with a cauliflower and broccoli base, or a breakfast bun and cappuccino combo for R70).
For lunch and supper, there’s everything from pizza (tikka chicken, Hawaiian, and Something Meaty to name a few) to a vegan burger with sweet potato fries or Belgian waffles. Parents will be happy to know that there are private work pods free of charge where you can work while the family explores the park.
Beyond the adrenaline rush, you can catch up over Bootlegger’s coffee in the pizzeria. Image: Freedom Adventure Park
Bookings for Freedom Adventure Park are made on their website, Freedom Adventure Park Canal Walk. You can also explore their party rooms, restaurant, ninja wall, sports pitch, and more with a virtual tour of Freedom Adventure Park.
General admission passes are R150 per hour for five years and older, while full-day passes are R400 per person. For kids four and under it’s R85 per an hour (dedicated toddler area only). It is recommended to book online.
Freedom Non-slip safety grip socks can be bought inside for R50 a pair and you can also bring your own pair of non-slip safety grip socks to escape the real world! Non-participation is free entrance, so you can also bring a book, relax, and have a cup of coffee or something to eat.
