Updated 2022: Visit a spa in the city that draws on ancient techniques.
---
It’s a bucket-list experience to stay at the iconic One&Only Cape Town resort, and through a special deal called Your Urban Retreat, locals can book into the glamorous hotel at almost half the international rate for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
At the One&Only Cape Town that spells pure luxury. Swim in cool pools with a view of the serene waterways which surround the island, order one of the city’s most decadent high teas or dress up and dine at South Africa’s only Nobu, the internationally renowned restaurant serving Japanese-Peruvian cuisine.
Stay in a Superior Room in One&Only Hotel’s Marina Rise with a view of Table Mountain or at the resort-like island with its palm-fringed walkways at a special rate that starts at R7 620 for the room. The suites, like the 181 metre-squared grand suite with lounge and dining area, kitchen and en-suite bathroom, are incredibly spacious, and a walk away from the lagoon-style infinity pool with private cabanas.
The stay comes with complimentary breakfast that you can take either in Vista Bar & Lounge or on your suite balcony. Book for one night, and you’ll also get 25% off all food and beverages for the duration of the stay as well as free access to the One&Only Spa, with its sauna, steam room, specialty shower experiences, Vitality Pool (which is warm) and Ice Machine (an ice fountain) – the idea is to alternate between the two and get the circulation stimulated (these benefits apply to the duration of the stay). Book for two nights, and the One&Only Cape Town oyster opens up even more: you can choose one of the resort experiences, such as a wine-tasting with One&Only Cape Town’s head sommelier Luvo Ntezo, or a cooking masterclass.
If you’re a foodie, Nobu is probably already on your list. The only one in Africa, it’s the brainchild of Michelin-star chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, who serves up remarkable dishes of Japanese-Peruvian food. This is fine dining, but there are other restaurant options such as Vista Bar & Lounge, which serves delicious light and main meals, as well as beautiful high teas. Isola has a fresh summer menu, and don’t miss a tasting at the Wine Studio.
This special is available up until the 14th of December, 2021. It’s ideal for the Capetonian or Western Cape citizen who wants the resort holiday without having to catch a flight anywhere, and Joburgers or Durbanites who want to experience Cape Town in style. It’s also open to all in the Southern African Development Community – Zimbabweans, Mozambicans, Namibians, Swazis, even Seychellois can take advantage of the deal. Your ID is all you’ll need. One&Only Cape Town gives surety that special precautions are in place for appropriate social distancing and all the rooms, which have a seal that tells you they have been sanitised before you enter, and have airy, private balconies.
Children under 12 stay for free (extra beds will be added to the room), plus they get 50% off all food and drinks, and if they’re under four years of age all food and drinks are totally free. They have a space all to themselves at the 100-square-metre clubhouse, with a play garden with trampoline and jungle gyms. Inside, where there are age-appropriate games, they can take part in the arts-and-craft programme or play video games.
