The hidden seaside bistro on the ...
Inventive small plates best explored with a wine pairing
Memes have become one of the most popular ways to share humour online, and now they’re getting their own exhibition in Cape Town at Gallery One11 in Loop Street on 1–7 February 2019 from 3pm–9pm. Be a part of it and stand a chance to win prizes by creating your own meme.
MORE THAN AN EXHIBITION
It’s interactive: The exhibition will be made up of the world’s most popular meme images, along with relatable caption boards visitors can use to curate their own memes. It’s also a competition, with prizes from Bang & Olufson Audio in the V&A Waterfront and Google up for grabs to those who create the best memes. The event’s last day coincides with the first Thursday in February, so the organisers have a special final day planned with live guest performances and more prizes.
HOW DO I GET IN
Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
WHAT IS WHAT DO YOU MEME?
The event is hosted by J&J Rewards, the guys who brought the hit board game, What Do You Meme, to SA. What Do You Meme takes the internet's most popular and hilarious memes images and puts them onto a playing card along with various captions you can link to the main image and create memes. The game pits you and your friends against each other to see who can “out-meme” the other. What Do You Meme will be available at a discounted price throughout the exhibition.
