Easter egg hunts are a fully fledged family affair. That’s why we’ve found some of the sweetest spots for your kids to hunt and for you to have fun. There’s a scavenger egg hunt at Spier (with wine tasting stations for parents), free Easter events, picnics, prizes and a seaside soiree. Which hunt are you joining?
R20 HUNT IN A STATUE EXHIBIT
Long March to Freedom has 100 life-size statues of heroes from South Africa and abroad that tell an inspiring story of our fight for democracy. If you visit on Sunday, there’s a free egg hunt for both adults and kids. Its on-site coffee shop has a long weekend special: R30 for a pepper steak pie and coffee.

HUNT WITH WINE TASTING STATIONS (SOLD OUT)
At Spier Wine Farm, the Easter bunny has left clues for the kids to solve along a 600m route. Each child will receive a map of the farm and once they’ve collected all their clues, there’ll be prizes like handmade cookies and Easter eggs. There’s wine tasting stations along the route for parents who want to tag along.
Date: 18 to 20 April; 9am to 3.30pm

EGG HUNT FOR R10 PER CHILD
The Easter bunny has hidden eggs and other colourful items all over the gardens of The Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument. Besides the sweet treats, there’ll be prizes up for grabs, outdoor games, crafts and a playground. Feel free to bring a picnic or pre-order a basket from Suikerkan Bistro via info@diesuikerkan.co.za.

FREE HUNT & LIVE SHOW
Good Hope Christian Centre is inviting everyone to attend their free Easter event (hosted at four locations) on Saturday and Easter Sunday. Families can watch a live Easter show and join an egg hunt, games, face painting, dancing and more. Their Ottery, Strandfontein and Belville campuses will be hosting on Saturday and their Ocean View campus on Easter Sunday.

MEET THE EASTER BUNNY
Hop over to Café Mambo for their Easter extravaganza, hosted by Mini&Me events. Set in the beautiful winelands, kids can run around and hunt for eggs (with prizes to be won), meet the Easter bunny, decorate cookies and cupcakes, and get their face painted. There’s also a picnic area, play park and swimming pool.

PETTING ZOO, MAGIC SHOWS & JUMPING CASTLES
An hour drive from Cape Town is Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, where there’ll be family fun the whole weekend. Kids can search for Easter eggs hidden around the estate while parents picnic on the lawn (at an additional cost) to the sounds of live music. Once they’re done, there’s still plenty to keep them busy like face painting, jumping castles, a petting zoo and a magic show.

HUNT FOR CHOCOLATE BY THE SEA
Cabo Beach’s seaside soirée will have face painting, a kiddies corner and of course, an Easter egg hunt. Each ticket also includes an activity pack for kids, where they can paint the Easter bunny, craft bunny ears and colour in pages. Facilitators will be with the kids during the activities so parents can dine at the restaurant and relax on the sun loungers.

EGG HUNT WITH BRUNCH & MIMOSAS
The lush gardens at Vida Nova Retreat are home to real rabbits, which is where kids will search for eggs. Light snacks and beverages will be provided for all the young adventurers. And for parents, you’ll get treated to an a la carte brunch with coffee and mimosas.
