The Fray Concerts South Africa

US rockers are scheduled to tour Mzansi in September 2014!

Grammy Award-nominated rock group The Fray is headed to South Africa for the first time ever as part of a worldwide tour to promote their latest album, Helios (2014). The ‘Over My Head’ singers will perform two shows while in the rainbow nation, one in Johannesburg and another in Cape Town.

DATES FOR THE FRAY CONCERT IN CAPE TOWN

  • Saturday, 20 September 2014: GrandWest Grand Arena in Cape Town at 8pm

The Fray initially made a name for itself after receiving critical international acclaim for the title song – and second single released – off their debut album, How to Save a Life (2005). By far one of the band’s most popular tunes, this record-setting track spent 58 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts; reached the top 10 charts in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and the UK; was also rated as one of 2012’s best selling digital rock tunes (as of July 2013 it was downloaded more than 4 million times); and featured on a number of TV series, including Scrubs, One Tree Hill, NCIS, Grey's Anatomy, and Bones.

Started in 2002 by school friends Isaac Slade (lead vocalist) and Joe King (rhythm guitar and backing vocalist), the group expanded from a duo to a foursome soon after forming and today includes Dave Welsh (lead guitar) and Ben Wysocki (drums) as well as touring member Jeremy McCoy (bass).

Now, more than a decade since banding together and following a string of notable successes, The Fray looks to bring South Africans the hits that made them famous as well as a number of new tracks off their recent release.

SUPPORTING ACT FOR THE FRAY CONCERT IN CAPE TOWN

Joining these US rock stars on stage is none other than the Mother City’s one-man band sensation, Jeremy Loops. This Cape Town-based muso has garnered a strong fan base across Mzansi with his folksy tunes and unique stage performances. Using a loop pedal, Jeremy creates his toe-tapping sound by layering various melodies over each other in real time. Aside from his really good looks, this multi-instrumentalist offers audiences a colourful and theatrical performance that will make for a vibey prelude to the main act.
