Ouzeri is bringing vacay vibes with Cypriot-Greek cuisine and wine
Last updated: Friday, 17 June 2022
The new addition to the food and nightlife scene is a breath of fresh air in the bustling city centre. It gives major vacay vibes. After successful pop-ups around town, Ouzeri Restaurant settled and opened in Wale Street.
Ouzeri is next to Honest Chocolate. Image: Ouzeri
Ouzeri’s decor and music draws on influences from Cyprus and Greece, with traditional sleek white walls, arches and marble pedestals. The space feels like a breath of fresh air within the bustling city centre (and is inspired from traditional taverns).
The music playing is a mix of progressive and ambient from Cypriot and Greek heritage. Image: Yaniv Chen
Ouzeri pays homage to the food Chef Nic Charalambous grew up with and discovered on his travels in Cyprus and Greece, playing on nostalgic flavours and techniques. Try traditional halloumi, lamb ribs and youvetsi with beef shin, while enjoying a range of small-batch, local wines.
The price range starts from R60 a starter and R130 a main. Image: Ouzeri
Ouzeri is open: Tuesdays, 6pm - 9.30pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays, 12am to 9.30pm
Find it: 58 Wale Street, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town
Price range: From R60
Book: Dineplan
