Celebrate New Year’s Eve with Sexy Groovy Love

International headliners in a mythical mountainside castle

Sexy Groovy Love holds the key to an exciting New Year’s Eve escapade, shrouded in mystery and magic. It's at Lichtenstein Castle, which is perched on the mountainside of Hout Bay and guarded by dragons, gargoyles, and goblins. International headliners include Tummetott and Franca.

PARTY IN A MEDIAEVAL CASTLE ON NYE 

Lichtenstein Castle, which overlooks the ocean, is a “mediaeval” castle snatched out of a fairytale. With rustic brick walls and dark turrets, the Lichtenstein Castle was built as a replica of the Gothic Schloss Lichtenstein Castle in southern Germany.

Like something out of a live-action Disney movie or a scene from Harry Potter, the Castle is guarded by an impressive dragon statue and stone lookout tower at the entrance. 

With high stained-glass windows and rolling green lawns, there’s also a grand ballroom, heated pool, and hidden waterfall, making it a magical playground to explore. 

There are only 800 tickets for sale at this 21-and-over festival, where you’ll see all kinds of interesting people partying the year away. From young adults in their mid-20s exploring the waterfall and hidden pathways to older crowds in their 50s on the dance floor.

DANCE TO AFRO HOUSE, INDIE, TECHNO + MORE 

The curated DJ lineup is diverse, with afro house, indie dance, disco and techno, and an amalgamation of everything in between. The dance floor can be found on the lush lawns, surrounded by dragons and firing cannons. 

With one magnificent stage, there’s no chance you’ll miss your favourite headliner. International headliners include alternative house artist, Tummetott, who has played in renowned Berlin clubs like Kater Blau and Sisyphos. 

As day turns into night, local legends Sun-El Musician and Contact High, who are known for their constant supply of exciting unreleased tracks will take over. There’s also international powerhouse Franca, who will take you into the midnight countdown where something special is planned (we can’t say too much just yet).

GRAB FOOD AND DRINKS 

The festival starts at 4pm, with a food market that will offer quick and easy food like pizza. There’ll be vegan options too. Beer and other drinks can be bought at the fully stocked cash bars, with a few specialty bars having slightly different offerings. Drink specials will be announced closer to the event.

GET YOUR TICKETS (AND DIRECTIONS)

Early bird tickets have already sold out, but Sexy Bird tickets are on sale now for R1 350 per person and the next phase will be releasing for R1 550. Tickets can be purchased through Howler.

The parking and drop-off area will be next to The Lookout (behind the old Mojo’s Restaurant and Tapas Bar) in Harbour Road. There will be a complimentary shuttle service to and from the venue as no cars will be permitted through the castle gates. Use Google Maps to find the venue.
