Fans of electronic music might be familiar with DVS1, an American techno DJ making international waves with his bumping digital beats. Good news – he’s coming to the Mother City! ColorBox Studios will be hosting the table-turning giant on the night of Saturday, 19 August 2017 for TOY TOY x Knowledge, an event that is set to have the dancefloor shaking with sound-wave energy and happy people. Give a warm South African welcome to DVS1, who will be performing in SA for the first time, and come on out to Paarden Eiland to surrender yourself to the music.
Off-set, DVS1 goes by the name Zak Khutoretsky and hails from Minneapolis in the US. He is a resident DJ at Berlin’s famous Berghain/ Panorama Bar and is signed with the music label Klockworks. DVS1 is loved by audiences for his high-energy sets and versatility, and has headlined at international festivals like Decibel and Dekmantel. Fans might be familiar with hit tracks such as the original mixes of ‘Black Russian’, ‘Page 1’ and ‘Polyphonic Love’, DVS1 will be the main act at TOY TOY, accompanied by four renowned SA deck-masters spinning it up – look out for D_Know, Kyle Russouw, Fabio and Craig Placid.
The venue, ColorBox Studios, is situated in a floor above a former box cutting factory. This and the fact that it is located in Cape Town’s industrial area gives it a minimalist, underground atmosphere similar to that of a warehouse. This makes it perfect for getting loud in a space that seems made purely for the occupation of good, raw music in an intimate setting with a world-famous DJ. This is a big event for techno music lovers, so don’t miss out.
TICKETS FOR THE 2017 TOY TOY X KNOWLEDGE FEATURING DVS1 AT COLORBOX STUDIOS
You can buy a ticket to TOY TOY x Knowledge online from Nutickets.co.za at the cost of R150p/p; alternatively, you can purchase a ticket at the door on the night for R200p/p (although, on the off-chance that door tickets are sold out, we advise buying one online).
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the organisers through info@welovetoytoy.co.za.
In case you were wondering, the name of this event doesn’t actually relate to the iconic, expressive South African dance style known as toyi-toyi.
Intrigued by the sound of the party venue, ColorBox Studios? Why not get to know about more cool music venues in the Mother City.
