When you’re planning a company retreat, getaway or teambuilding, you want to spend your time prepping your presentations to build team spirit and ideas. Not deciding who sleeps where and confirming dietary requirements. 

Ideas Cartel knows that from their years of hosting small and big teams at their coworking spaces. That’s why they’re now offering corporate retreats where everything is arranged for you – accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, teambuilding activities and even facilitated workshops. And the packages are completely customisable.

COMPANY RETREAT IN ST JAMES & GREEN POINT 

Ideas Cartel, who have coworking spaces, private offices, boardrooms and meeting rooms in various locations, offer retreats at two locations: The Old Foundry Hotel (Green Point) and Sonnekus Boutique Hotel (Kalk Bay). Sonnekus is a favourite thanks to the extensive list of outdoor and indoor activities nearby. 

The Ideas Cartel team takes the reins from the moment that you check-in. Guests are shown to their rooms to freshen up before an in-house wine tasting followed by an elegant dinner.

ACCOMMODATION FOR UP TO 20 PEOPLE  

All 10 rooms at Sonnekus are a charming blend of modern luxury and old world touches with a king or queen-size bed (that can be split into two single beds) and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. 

They’re tastefully decorated with custom headboards, antique furniture and local artwork, and all have a view of the surrounding mountains or the beach. There’s also a 55” TV, wifi and wooden desk.

BEACH PICNICS, HIGH TEA, YOGA & MORE

Teambuilding activities, which are built into all of the packages, are a range of curated and customisable experiences, and you get to choose which ones suit your team’s needs best. 

You can unwind over some wine tasting, cocktail hour or dine on Danger Beach with a picnic. Danger Beach is across the road from Sonnekus Boutique Hotel and it’s also where your days will start with yoga, breathwork or a dip in the ocean. 

There’s guided hikes up Kalk Bay mountain, kayaking in Simons Town and murder mystery dinners. Opting to eat out, the team recommends neighbouring restaurants like SALT or Olympia Café.

And if you have a particular activity in mind that’s not listed in their regular offerings, the team can arrange it for you.

MODERN MEETING ROOMS & BOARDROOMS 

You can make Sonnekus your office space for a few days, too, because the team can easily reconfigure the tea room or Speak Easy into a meeting room or pop-up office space.

Opting for an inner city team getaway, the Old Foundry Hotel offers a main boardroom which can comfortably seat two to 20 people. And they can organise SWOT workshops (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), Personality Assessments and more for you.

PACKAGES FOR BIG OR SMALL TEAMS 

There are three packages to choose from. 

The Quick Connect (two nights and three days) is for short retreats, like a leadership group meeting. 

Corporate Catalyst (three nights and four days) gives your team a slightly longer stay, allowing more time for strategic workshops and teambuilding. There’s extra leisure activities like high tea in the Sonnekus tea room. 

Executive Escape is the ultimate package and includes activities such as in-room massages and kayaking with penguins.
